Fashion Tips To Enhance Your Look!
Let’s be real, there’s just something about a well dress guy. Being well dressed also brings out a form of confidence in a guy when he walks into a room. Yet many guys find themselves in the same situation- the things that have been previously purchased go in, but never come out of the closet. What was once a nice shirt and pair of pants three years ago still lingers in your closet outdated, out of style, and even worn out in most cases- favorite pair of jeans from five years ago anyone?
Here are some tips to ensure you always have something great to wear, while updating that outdated and worn out wardrobe.
#1: Out with the old!
Ask yourself the following question: When was the last time I went through my clothes and got rid of the things that are outdated, old, worn out, and/or don’t fit properly? If the answer to this question is more than a year ago, it’s time for some spring cleaning! So many guys keep shirts and pants way past their shelf life. Take the time to go through your clothes and keep the ones that are worthy to stay in your wardrobe. Those that don’t make the cut can still offer value – donate them to the Goodwill or Salvation Army. This offers a great alternative for those clothes that have seen their day with you, and can benefit others. Yes, we know this may be difficult, but just remember, you will find new favorites to wear, and you will look great while wearing them. Also, when we say donate we don’t mean donating your stained clothing- discard those for mankind’s sake.
#2: Be open minded.
We recommend you go slightly beyond your comfort zone by trying new things. Many people are pleasantly surprised when they find themselves liking an outfit once they have it on. Experimenting with colors is also a great thing. By experimenting with colors it will help you find those that best suite you. Besides, the right choice of color can make your outfit stand out in a good way.
Tip 3: Build a good foundation.
Think about building your wardrobe like building a house. The most important part of a house is its foundation. The purpose of a foundation is to distribute the load, from the superstructure, to the soil below so that the structure is safe, and can withstand the loads. Okay, obviously you’re not going to tip over because of a bad clothing foundation like a house would, but clothes are an extension of who you are and what you’re about. Think about it- what is one of the first things people look at when meeting you for the first time? Answer: What you’re wearing!
A solid clothing foundation revolves around collecting items that offer versatility. For example, a pair of khaki chinos and button down shirt can be dressed up for a day at the office with a blazer and tie, and can be relaxed in the evening for cocktails hours by removing the tie, jacket, and un-buttoning the first or second buttons. So think of KISS: Keep It Simple Silly. Stick with basics like white T-shirts, black blazers, black shoes, dark denim, etc. By having these foundation items in your wardrobe, you can always turn up the volume by pairing them with accessories and color (i.e. blazers, ties, vests, etc.).
#4 Fit is EVERYTHING.
All too often an outfit is ruined because the top is too baggy (or too tight), and the pants are either too long, or too big at the waist. Any stylist will tell you that no matter what article of clothing you may be wearing, it will never look good without the proper fit.
Here is a great guide by N. Taverna and P. Altair on the proper fits:

We do understand, however, that you may not be into the “super skinny denim” look, or the “super tight t-shirt” look, either. We get it, we are not saying to alter your style, but rather, to ensure your clothes are tailored to your body in a way that make you look like the very best form of YOU.
