THE PROPER WAY TO WEAR A TIE
One of the most common thing among guy’s wardrobes is their lack of ties. Every man should have a decent set of ties. By having many options to choose from allows you to have a tie for every occasion. Wearing a tie can help your outfit pop and make the difference of turning heads when you walk in a room. We will be giving you 6 tips on the proper way to wear a tie.
1. A TIGHT KNOT WILL GIVE YOU A TIGHT LOOK
When making a tie be sure to make the knot just right. If the tie is too loose you will find yourself having to refit the knot every time you move your neck or head. Also make sure not to over tighten the knot as it can damage the fabric of your tie. Make sure the knot has the right amount of tension to it; otherwise, you will need to constantly refit the knot every time you move your head. You shouldn’t overdo it though, or you will risk stretching and damaging the fabric.
2. KEEP THE TAIL OF THE TIE SHORTER
Nothing looks worse then having a tie that the tail part of the tie is visible because its too long. We all know its a pain at times getting the tie length just right but its worth the time. While making the tie be aware that if you create a bigger knot, like the Windsor Knot, it will need more fabric to complete the knot, so the wide part of the tie should be longer and the tail should be shorter. At the end the tip of the wide end of the tie should sit right in the center of your belt.
3. THE KNOT SHOULD MATCH THE COLLAR SIZE OF THE SHIRT
When making the know be sure that the size of the knot matches the type of collar shirt you are wearing. The knot should always fill up the space between the collars. This isn’t rocket science here.
4. KEEP IT SIMPLE
If it’s your first time experimenting with different knots try to keep it simple. Start of using the Four-In-Hand or the Half Windsor knots. They are easy to do and will look great with most collar shirts. Once you have more experience and feel comfortable try doing more bold knots, like the Eldredge Knot.
5. WEAR CASUAL TIES WITH CASUAL AND FORMAL TIES WITH FORMAL
If you are wearing a casual button down you will want to wear a casual tie, like a knit tie, to go with it. This is pretty simple to follow. Leave formal ties for dressier button downs and casual ties for casual button downs. Again this isn’t rocket science.
